โš ๏ธ Safety Checkpoints & Warnings

๐Ÿ“‹ Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)

1

Turn Off Power and Remove Old Fixture

Switch off the circuit breaker supplying power to the room. Unscrew the canopy screws on the old fan to expose the wiring, then use a non-contact voltage tester on every single wire lead to ensure zero power. Disconnect the wire nuts and lift the old fan off its mounting bracket.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Old fan fully removed from ceiling
  • โ€ข Junction box clearly visible with bare/capped wires hanging down
  • โ€ข Voltage tester tip placed on live wire without lighting up or beeping
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Turning off only the wall switch instead of the main circuit breaker
  • โ€ข Letting the heavy fan hang by the electrical wires while unscrewing
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Always double-check all hot wires with an active tester before physical contact.
2

Install the New Mounting Bracket

Check that the ceiling box is metal and marked 'Acceptable for Fan Support'. Thread the house electrical wires through the center hole of the new mounting bracket. Secure the bracket tightly to the junction box using the heavy-duty mounting screws provided.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Mounting bracket sits flush against ceiling box with zero wobble
  • โ€ข House wires pulled cleanly through the bracket center opening
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Mounting a fan to a standard plastic lighting box
  • โ€ข Failing to tighten mounting screws fully into the box frame
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Never attach a ceiling fan bracket to standard drywall anchors or non-fan plastic boxes.
3

Assemble Motor and Downrod

Feed the fan motor wires through the downrod and collar cover on a flat work surface. Insert the downrod into the motor coupling, slide the clevis pin through the aligned holes, and lock it with the cotter hairpin. Tighten the collar set screws firmly against the downrod.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Cotter pin fully seated and clipped through the clevis pin hole
  • โ€ข Canopy and collar cover resting in proper order on the downrod shaft
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Forgetting to slide the canopy and trim ring onto the rod before inserting the pin
  • โ€ข Leaving set screws loose on the motor collar
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Ensure the cotter pin ends are bent or secured so the pin cannot shake loose during operation.
4

Hang Motor and Connect Wiring

Lift the motor assembly and place the downrod ball into the mounting bracket socket, rotating it until the registration groove drops into the bracket tab. Connect white (neutral) to white, black/blue (motor/light hot) to black, and green/bare (ground) to the bracket ground screw and ground wire using wire nuts. Tuck all completed wire connections neatly into the junction box.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Downrod ball fully seated in socket groove without twisting
  • โ€ข All wire nuts firmly twisted with no exposed bare copper showing
  • โ€ข Ground wires bonded to mounting bracket and ceiling box
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Failing to seat the ball groove into the bracket tab, causing violent wobbling
  • โ€ข Cross-connecting the hot (black) and neutral (white) conductors
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Separate hot and neutral splices to opposite sides of the outlet box before closing.
5

Fasten Canopy and Attach Fan Blades

Slide the canopy up to the ceiling over the mounting bracket and drive the decorative screws into place. Attach each fan blade to its blade iron bracket, then mount each blade iron to the motor housing using the rubber vibration-dampening washers. Tighten all blade screws evenly in a star or opposite pattern.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Canopy flush with ceiling hiding all wiring and bracket hardware
  • โ€ข All fan blades secured at uniform angles and equal spacing
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Over-tightening blade screws and cracking the wood/composite blade material
  • โ€ข Installing blade irons upside down or with inconsistent pitch
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Ensure no wires are pinched when pushing the canopy against the ceiling bracket.
6

Install Light Kit and Test Operation

Plug the wiring harness connector from the light kit into the fan housing and attach the light fixture using the supplied screws. Install compatible LED bulbs and attach the glass shade by turning it gently into the threads or securing the thumb screws. Restore breaker power and test all fan speeds and light switches.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Glass shade securely seated without binding
  • โ€ข Fan running smoothly at all speed settings without noticeable wobble or hum
  • โ€ข Light kit operates correctly via wall switch or pull chain
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Over-tightening thumb screws against glass shades, causing cracking
  • โ€ข Neglecting to test reverse switch functionality
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Turn off the wall switch before screwing in light bulbs or adjusting the glass shade.
