๐ Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)
Excavate Loose Rot and Decayed Wood
Scrape and gouge out all completely disintegrated, crumbly wood using a sharp chisel and wire brush. Do not remove semi-soft structural fibers that retain shape, as the epoxy consolidant will reinforce them. Vacuum all loose dust, wood chips, and debris from the cavity.

Drill Injection Holes into Solid Timber
Drill a pattern of 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch holes angled downward into the surrounding wood and remaining semi-sound fibers. Space the holes roughly 1 to 2 inches apart around the perimeter of the damaged zone. Clear out drilling dust thoroughly with a vacuum nozzle.

Mix and Apply LiquidWood Consolidant
Combine equal parts of LiquidWood Part A and Part B in a disposable cup and stir thoroughly for two full minutes. Brush the mixture generously over all exposed fibers and pour it directly into the drilled holes until the wood stops absorbing liquid. Allow the liquid to soak in until it becomes tacky, typically 15 to 45 minutes.

Knead and Mix WoodEpox Paste
Scoop equal volumes of WoodEpox Part A resin and Part B hardener using separate clean spatulas or gloved hands. Blend and knead the two components together by hand for several minutes until no streaks remain and the mixture is a uniform off-white color. Work the material quickly, keeping in mind the approximately 20 to 30-minute pot life.

Pack, Shape, and Feather WoodEpox
Press the WoodEpox firmly into the cavity bottom first to eliminate all trapped air pockets. Build up the repair slightly proud of the surrounding wood surface to allow material for finish sanding. Smooth and rough-shape the profile with a putty knife or gloved fingers dipped lightly in water.

Sand, Profile, and Seal the Repair
Allow the epoxy to fully cure for 24 hours until rock-hard. Sand the patch flush with 80-grit sandpaper using an orbital sander or sanding block, then smooth with 120-grit paper to match the original wood texture. Wipe away dust and apply a high-quality exterior primer over the entire repaired section.
