📋 Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)
Clear Loose Material and Roughen Surface
Scrape the chipped void with the edge of a putty knife to dislodge loose fragments. Scrub the damaged area vigorously using a wire brush to expose sound, solid concrete. Ensure the repair cavity has textured walls rather than smooth polished surfaces for mechanical grip.

Vacuum and Pre-Wet the Repair Area
Vacuum all fine dust and silica particles out of the chip and surrounding concrete. Mist the repair area with clean water from a spray bottle to reach a saturated surface-dry (SSD) state. Blot away standing puddles with a clean rag so the surface is damp but not flooded.

Apply Concrete Bonding Adhesive

Mix Vinyl Concrete Patch to Thick Paste
Add a small amount of vinyl concrete patch powder into your mixing bucket. Slowly introduce water in small increments while stirring with the margin trowel. Mix thoroughly until the compound reaches a uniform, slump-free peanut butter consistency.
- • Smooth, homogenous gray paste that stays firmly on the trowel blade without running.
- • Adding too much water, resulting in a runny mix that shrinks and cracks.
Pack and Level the Patch
Force the mixed patch firmly into the chip using the flat face of the margin trowel to eliminate trapped air. Overfill the void slightly above the surrounding surface level. Hold the trowel flat against the adjacent concrete and sweep across the patch to slice off excess material flush with the surface.

Blend Edges and Match Surface Texture
Feather the perimeter edges into the surrounding concrete using light passes of the putty knife. If matching a broom-finish or rough concrete, lightly drag a damp sponge or bristled brush across the semi-firm patch. Let the patch undisturbed to cure for at least 24 hours.
