📋 Step-by-Step Guide (5 Steps)
Score Both Edges of the Silicone Bead
Extend the utility knife blade by half an inch. Hold the blade almost flat against the vertical tile wall and slice along the top edge of the silicone bead. Repeat along the bottom edge where the silicone meets the horizontal fixture, keeping cuts straight and continuous.

- • Holding the blade perpendicular and gouging acrylic or enamel surfaces.
Peel the Main Silicone Bead Away
Use your fingers or a plastic scraper to lift the free corner at one end of the scored strip. Pull steadily at a 45-degree angle along the joint line to detach the bulk strip in one long piece.
- • Intact ribbon of silicone pulled free, leaving only a thin transparent residue film in the corner.
- • Yanking abruptly upwards, causing the silicone ribbon to snap repeatedly.
Apply Silicone Remover Gel to Residue
Squeeze a generous bead of silicone remover gel over the remaining thin film along the entire joint. Use a scraper or gloved finger to spread the gel so it fully submerges every leftover scrap. Allow it to dwell according to manufacturer instructions (typically 15-30 minutes).
- • A thick, even gel line coating the entire seam with no dry patches visible.
- • Scraping immediately without letting the chemical soften the cured polymers.
Scrape and Scrub the Softened Residue
Work a plastic scraper along the seam to push the gummy residue into clumps. Follow up with a stiff nylon bristle brush dipped in warm water to lift silicone fragments from textured tile grout lines.

- • Using a wire brush or metal razor that scratches delicate composite basins.
Degrease Joint with Isopropyl Alcohol
Saturate a clean microfiber cloth with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol. Firmly rub the entire joint channel and adjacent 1-inch borders to strip away chemical solvent oils, soap scum, and moisture.
