📋 Step-by-Step Guide (7 Steps)
Excavate and Clear the Area
Remove existing sod, organic matter, and soil to a depth of 3 to 4 inches below adjacent hardscapes. Use a flat shovel to create a uniform, roughly level subgrade. Rake out all large roots, rocks, and debris.

Lay Weed Barrier and Add Base Material
Roll out non-woven weed barrier over the bare soil, overlapping edges by 6 inches, and secure with a few staples. Shovel in crushed stone base across the fabric to a depth of 2.5 to 3 inches. Rake the stone evenly to create an even, consistent surface.

Roll Out Turf and Align Grain
Unroll the synthetic turf over the base, allowing at least 2 inches of overhang along all perimeter borders. Ensure all adjoining turf sections have their grass blades pointing in the exact same direction. Let the turf rest in the sun for 30 to 60 minutes to relax packaging wrinkles.

Cut and Glue Seams

Ensure no individual grass blades get trapped inside the adhesive seam.

Trim Perimeters and Secure Edges

Part the fibers before hammering so the nail head pins only the backing to the base.

Spread Infill and Brush Turf

Use a stiff-bristle push broom to brush vigorously against the grain of the grass blades. This works the sand down to the backing base and forces the turf blades into a vertical position.
