Check Studs and Install Blocking
Place a 4-foot level vertically and horizontally across the framing studs around the bathtub. Add wood shims to low studs and install horizontal 2x4 blocking at the height of the surround top and side flanges for secure fastening. Ensure the corner studs are plumb and square within 1/8 inch across the alcove.
