๐ Step-by-Step Guide (5 Steps)
Mark Fastener Layout on Wood
Measure and mark screw positions along the centerline of the wood board at 16 to 24-inch intervals. Ensure marks are at least 3 inches away from the ends of the lumber to prevent wood splitting. Double-check alignment against your wall baseline.

- โข Marking too close to the edge or end of the lumber.
Pre-Drill Clearance Holes in Wood
Drill through the marked locations on the wood using a standard wood bit matching the anchor diameter. This prevents the concrete masonry bit from binding on wood fibers. Clear wood shavings away from the surface.

- โข Using a masonry bit directly through both wood and concrete in one pass.
Position Lumber and Drill Concrete Pilot Holes
Align the lumber over the concrete floor and insert the masonry bit through the pre-drilled wood holes. Run the hammer drill at full speed with firm downward pressure, drilling at least 1/2 inch deeper into concrete than the screw embedment depth. Use the drill's depth stop or a tape flag on the bit.

Clear Dust from Concrete Holes
Remove the lumber temporarily or align the nozzle directly over each drilled hole. Evacuate all concrete dust using a vacuum or squeeze bulb. Trapped dust will pack tightly and seize the concrete screw prematurely.

Drive Concrete Screws
Reposition the lumber (with sill seal underneath if touching slab) over the drilled holes. Drive each concrete screw through the wood and into the concrete hole using steady, moderate speed with an impact driver. Stop driving immediately when the screw head contacts the wood surface.
